Celebrating 45 Years of Faithfulness | Pastor Kenneth Wells; Northview Baptist Church
Forty-five years.
It’s hard to even wrap your mind around that kind of faithfulness.
For 45 years, Pastor Ken Wells has loved, led, prayed over, encouraged, counseled, cried with, celebrated with, and faithfully shepherded the people of Northview Baptist Church. Generation after generation has walked through these church doors and known the steady presence of Brother Ken.
And today… he preached his final sermon as Pastor of Northview.
Last night, we gathered together for his retirement dinner, and it was one of those nights you could physically feel the love in the room. The stories, the laughter, the tears, the hugs… every single bit of it was a reflection of the impact this man has made on so many lives over the last four and a half decades.
There were speaker after speaker sharing memories, funny stories, heartfelt moments, and the kind of things that only come from doing life together for that many years. You could hear over and over again just how deeply Brother Ken has impacted people’s lives — not just inside the walls of the church, but throughout this entire community.
And y’all… the lobby setup was just perfect 😂
Photo boards filled with memories from years past, popcorn, Kool-Aid, and all of Ken’s favorite things were spread throughout the room. It felt personal. Familiar. Full of love. The kind of night that perfectly reflected the man everyone came to celebrate.
Bro. Ken baptized both The Cowboy and me… and sitting there looking around the room last night, hearing story after story of lives changed and families impacted, it just hit me all over again how special this church family truly is.
And selfishly… can I just say what an incredible honor it is to serve as the photographer for this church?! It has become so much more than just taking photos for me. I get a front row seat to moments that matter. The joyful moments. The sacred moments. The hard moments. The legacy moments.
And this weekend was one I will carry with me for a very long time.
Getting to document a room full of people honoring a man who has faithfully poured his entire life into ministry for 45 years… that’s not something I take lightly. Those are the kinds of moments that remind me why I love what I do so much.
While today closes one chapter, we’re thankful that Brother Ken’s heart for serving people isn’t going anywhere. He’ll continue serving our community as Chaplain for Lewisville Fire and Police, and honestly, that role fits him so perfectly because loving and caring for people has always been at the center of who he is.
Thank you, Pastor Kenneth Wells, for your faithfulness. Thank you for preaching truth boldly. Thank you for loving people well. Thank you for the prayers you’ve prayed over this church and this community for the last 45 years.
Northview Baptist Church is better because you were here.
And what a beautiful legacy that is ❤️
